Steven W. Frye, manufacturing

Steven W. Frye, a Senior Consultant with Sabatier Consulting, is an accomplished magazine executive with more than 25 years experience in periodical production, manufacturing, and distribution. He has particular expertise in vendor selection and contract negotiations, workflow reviews, and designing cost-management software for catalog, book, magazine, newspaper and directory publishers.

The former Director of Art & Production at Commtek Publishing, Steven launched his consulting career in 1985 by designing innovative cost-management systems for companies such as Harvard Business Journal, John Deere, Penthouse, Omni, and Resort Condominiums International. He has since set up systems for more than 200 publications including Parenting, Sunset, Discover, Canadian Living, Modern Maturity, Christianity Today, and TV Guide.

Steven has also negotiated printing, paper, and distribution contracts for the Smithsonian Institution, The National Wildlife Federation, The Lions Club International, The United States Golf Association, Warren Miller Entertainment, Habitat for Humanity, The Council on Foreign Relations, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, WordPerfect, Scott USA, The Sporting News, Consumers Digest,Soldier of Fortune, TWA's Ambassador, and AARP's Modern Maturity. In addition, he has performed personnel and workflow analyses for such prestigious organizations as Worldvision, Time Inc., Ducks Unlimited, UST Smokeless Tobacco and the Washington Post.

A columnist for Publishing Executive magazine, he is a frequent speaker at industry conferences including the New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles FOLIO: International Publishing Conferences.
